State Legislative - Week of March 26, 2010
Legislative Update
Meeting with Speaker on Cost of Performance. CCTA and Members met with newly elected Speaker John Perez (D-Los Angeles) to brief him on the negative impacts of eliminating the Cost of Performance methodology for apportioning income for tax purposes. Consistent with the Governor's and legislators' theme of focusing on maintaining and creating jobs in California, CCTA and Members informed Mr. Speaker that the California cable industry has done a stellar job in maintaining strong workforce and economic activity within the state. As the legislative leaders and Governor negotiate a new state budget, CCTA and Members asked the Speaker, at a minimum, to restore the Cost of Performance for those industries that have a significant positive economic impact in the state.
Similar meetings were also held with Assembly Member Bob Blumenfield (D-Van Nuys), the new chair of the Assembly Budget Committee, and Assembly Member Nathan Fletcher (R-San Diego), lead Assembly Republican Member on budget tax negotiations.
The California State Legislature is on Spring Recess and will reconvene on
Monday, April 5, 2010.
