Welcome
California Cable & Telecommunications Association
The California Cable & Telecommunications Association (CCTA) is the industry's largest state cable and telecommunications association. CCTA is a leader in the development of video and communications policy in Sacramento and in Washington D.C. CCTA represents the industry before the State Legislature, state and federal courts, the California Public Utilities Commission, the California State Board of Equalization and other State agencies, and the Federal Communications Commission. Paramount among the Association's goals has been ensuring that the cable industry remains competitive in the rapidly changing world of information and communication services that contribute significantly to California's economy.
Headquartered in Sacramento, across the street from the State Capitol, CCTA represents cable companies and program content providers located in every county in the State. The partnership between the Legislature, the local communities and the cable industry will continue to benefit Californians for years to come.
California Cable is INVESTED
California's Cable and Telecommunications Companies have invested more than $20 billion in California since 1996 to upgrade their infrastructure and state and local governments have reaped more than $ 450 million annually in franchise fees, utility user and property taxes. Since 2006, upgrades throughout California have provided service to 6.8 million video cable customers; 3.8 million high speed Internet users and 2.0 million business/residential VoIP and telephone customers.
Our industry is a key driver of California's economic growth and recovery by contributing to communities across the state. Cable's private investments have created an industry that supports almost 31,000 employees in California. And, California cable companies invest more than $300 million in California in charitable and philanthropic causes annually.
California Cable is INNOVATIVE
Cable's broadband service is available to 96 percent of the state. During the last decade, our billions of dollars worth of investments to upgrade our infrastructure have brought new innovation and allowed us to reinvent ourselves by providing video, VoIP and Internet Services. These investments in technology also enable the application of technologies that support distant learning and telemedicine, and open the possibility of the otherwise impossible.
California Cable is COMPETITIVE
California's Cable and Telecommunications industry is highly competitive. Cable providers are competing with satellite providers and traditional telephone companies to provide video service; just as cable companies are providing VoIP (telephone) and Internet services. The industry's focus on innovation has strengthened the competitiveness of the market, giving consumers more choices than ever before. Cable will prevail in this increasingly competitive environment by providing the most innovative array of services at competitive prices with the highest standard of customer service.
California's Cable and Telecommunications Companies lead by example and provide significant support to California's economy by maintaining service models that provide consumers a choice of competitive services, investing billions of dollars in infrastructure, employing thousands of Californians, and by contributing millions of dollars in the communities in which they do business.
